University of Western Australia Scholarship 2025
The University of Western Australia (UWA) is inviting exceptional Year 12 students from Western Australia to apply for the prestigious UWA Winthrop Scholarship, with applications open from 16 December 2024 to 20 June 2025. This highly sought-after scholarship honors Sir John Winthrop Hackett KCMG, a visionary leader and UWA’s inaugural chancellor, who believed in the power of education to unlock potential and transform lives.
The scholarship is designed to support students who excel academically, demonstrate outstanding leadership potential, and actively contribute to their communities. Each year, 10 scholarships are awarded, providing recipients with $10,000 annually to assist with tuition fees, accommodation, and general living expenses. The funding extends for up to six semesters of undergraduate study and one additional year for honors, with further support available for postgraduate programs.
Scholars are not only financially supported but also gain access to UWA’s exclusive Winthrop Leadership Program, which offers mentorship opportunities and a network of influential leaders. Participants will also have the chance to engage in university internships addressing critical global challenges such as climate change and social justice, or work with UWA Sport and equity initiatives like Aspire and Fairway.
Eligible applicants must be domestic students with an ATAR of 95 or above, apply to UWA through Early Offer or TISC with UWA as their first preference, and begin their full-time undergraduate studies in 2025. The application process includes submitting evidence of academic achievements, community involvement, and co-curricular activities, along with a leadership statement and a School Principal’s Endorsement Form verifying predicted academic results here https://www.uwa.edu.au/study/fees-and-scholarships/uwa-winthrop-scholarship.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews during the Easter break, with final decisions announced by mid-2025. Recipients are expected to actively participate in UWA’s mentorship and leadership development programs, contributing to their communities and inspiring others through their journey.
The UWA Winthrop Scholarship represents an unparalleled opportunity for young leaders to achieve academic excellence while making a lasting impact. Applications are now open, and prospective students are encouraged to take this significant step towards shaping their future.
