United Nations FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship 2025

The United Nations FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme 2025–2026 has opened its doors to international students, offering fully funded opportunities to pursue Master’s degrees in Hungary. This prestigious program is a collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Hungarian Government, aiming to foster global talent in agricultural sciences.

For the 2025–26 academic year, two Master of Science programs are available in English: the Master in Aquaculture at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus in Gödöllő, and the Master in Animal Husbandry Engineering at the University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management. These programs are designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in their respective fields, supported by Hungary’s esteemed academic institutions.

The scholarship covers all essential costs, including full application and tuition fees, basic books and materials, dormitory accommodation, a subsistence allowance for living expenses, and health insurance. These benefits ensure that students can focus entirely on their studies without financial concerns. However, the scholarship exclusively supports individual students, with no provisions for accompanying family members.

Eligibility for the program is limited to residents and nationals of over 40 countries, including Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Jordan, Nigeria, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Candidates are required to have strong academic records, English language proficiency, and a clear motivation to pursue their chosen field of study. Additionally, applicants are expected to be in good health, with preference given to those under the age of 30.

The selection process for the scholarship consists of two (02) phases. In the first phase, FAO will pre-screen applications and forward them to the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture, which will then share them with the relevant universities. Only complete applications will be considered. In the second phase, shortlisted candidates may undergo an English language assessment and further evaluation by the universities. Final selections will be made by the universities, and successful applicants will be notified by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Applications for the FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme 2025–2026 will be accepted via email between January 20 and February 28, 2025. This timeline provides aspiring students ample time to prepare and submit their applications.
