Otago Polytechnic International Scholarships 2026

Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand is offering international students an exciting opportunity to receive financial support through its 2026 Otago Polytechnic International Scholarships. These scholarships are designed to help new full-time international students kick-start their academic journey at one of New Zealand’s most respected institutions.

What’s the Scholarship All About?

This scholarship is for students who are starting full-time studies at Otago Polytechnic in 2026. You don’t need to apply separately for this scholarship. If you meet the eligibility criteria and enroll in one of the eligible programs, you will automatically be considered.

The scholarship is meant to reward students who show strong academic potential, a commitment to learning through practical work, and contributions to their communities. If you’re selected, the scholarship amount will be directly deducted from your tuition fees (up to 120 credits).


Eligible Programs and Scholarship Value

Here are some of the eligible programs and how much the scholarship can save you:

  • Bachelor of Construction (Quantity Surveying)
    Tuition: NZD $26,572
    Scholarship: NZD $3,472
    Payable Fee: NZD $23,100

  • Bachelor of Information Technology / Graduate Diploma in IT
    Tuition: NZD $26,572
    Scholarship: NZD $3,472
    Payable Fee: NZD $23,100

  • Postgraduate Diplomas (Applied Management – BIS or BM)
    Tuition: NZD $28,590
    Scholarship: NZD $2,000
    Payable Fee: NZD $26,590

  • Master of Applied Management (BIS or BM)
    Tuition: NZD $42,885
    Scholarship: NZD $4,000
    Payable Fee: NZD $38,885


Who Can Apply?

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Be a new international student (not re-enrolling).
  • Plan to start full-time study in 2026 in one of the eligible programs.
  • Meet the program’s entry requirements and be officially accepted.
  • Be from a country listed as eligible and provide proof of citizenship (e.g. passport, birth certificate).
  • Not be sponsored by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  • Not be receiving another scholarship from Otago Polytechnic or any New Zealand government-funded body.

📌 Note: Students receiving private or corporate funding (not from NZ government or Te Pūkenga) may still be eligible.


Who is Not Eligible?

  • Those studying part-time.
  • Students who plan to reduce their study load or defer their studies to 2027.
  • Students applying for credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) that reduces total credits.
  • Students who fail courses and need to repeat them—these repeat courses won’t be covered by the scholarship.

How to Get the Scholarship?

There’s no separate application needed. Simply apply and enroll as a full-time international student in one of the eligible programs for the 2026 intake. If you qualify, Otago Polytechnic will:

  • Send you a letter of offer
  • Apply the scholarship amount directly to your tuition fees
  • Inform you about the remaining fees you’ll need to pay

Remember, the scholarship is valid only for 2026, and no deferrals are allowed.
