DAAD/EPOS Scholarships 2025 Now Open for Young Professionals from Developing Nations

In a world brimming with environmental and social challenges, here’s your chance to make a real difference—on a global scale. The prestigious DAAD/EPOS Scholarship Programme 2025 is now inviting outstanding young professionals from developing countries to apply for a fully funded master’s degree at one of Germany’s most respected institutions: the University of Freiburg.

This is more than just a scholarship. It’s an invitation to transform your future through the Master of Environmental Governance (MEG) program—an interdisciplinary course that equips professionals with the tools to tackle the planet’s toughest sustainability problems.

About the DAAD/EPOS MEG Scholarship

The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), through its Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) program, has selected the MEG program for sponsorship in 2025. This means that selected candidates from DAC-listed developing countries can pursue this highly competitive master’s degree free of cost, with generous funding covering tuition, living expenses, travel, and more.

Applicants will first be shortlisted by the MEG program’s selection committee, and then reviewed by DAAD for final approval.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for this golden opportunity, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a developing country (listed under DAC countries).
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with above-average academic performance (upper third).
  • Have at least 2 years of relevant full-time professional experience after earning the first degree (volunteering or internships not counted).
  • Ensure the bachelor’s degree was obtained within the last six years (by October 2025).
  • Have resided in Germany for no more than 15 months prior to application.
  • If already holding a master’s degree, explain convincingly why another postgraduate degree is essential for your career goals.

Note: Academic roles such as teaching or research are generally not considered valid work experience unless in exceptional cases.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

  • Full tuition fees for the MEG program
  • Monthly living stipend
  • Health insurance
  • Travel allowance
  • Preparatory German language course (if required)
  • Networking opportunities and professional support
